Beachfields Regeneration

Beachfields sits in a prime location close to the town centre, waterfront  and Sheerness train station. The current Beachfields site consists of a dated health, wellbeing and leisure facility, a sand pit play are, paddling pool and green space.

Proposed

The existing health, wellbeing and leisure centre will be reconfigured and extended, providing  improved facilities for residents  and visitor. Changes include:

• New activities such as soft play and Tag Active
• Café facilities
• Relocated and expanded GP facilities on the ground floor

Outdoor attractions, such as Adventure Golf and an outdoor gym will be created. The remodelled exterior will provide a more welcoming and accessible entrances to the centre.

Progress

Swale Borough Council have entered into contract with Alliance Leisure who will act as a delivery partner for the works at Beachfield. After a tender process, Willmott Dixon were appointed as Principal Contractor for the design works taking place before the construction works start. Working with those who currently occupy the building, engagement sessions have taken place to ensure that designs meet the needs of public. The design team have worked hard to conduct the relevant surveys of the site to help gain a better understanding of the current conditions and inform the designs which are created. Following the public consultant event held on 24th April the planning application has now be submitted to the local planning team.
