Swale Borough Council does not require special category data for this processing; however it is identified that as part of the enquiry special category data may be provided.

Why do we collect this information

We use your personal data to:

  • if signed up, provide subscription correspondence for Sheerness Revival only
  • subscriber event activity information (for example, links clicked, event date, timestamp, etc) – this enables the council to send out reminder emails to subscribers who have not opened the email or clicked on the relevant link
  • respond to the enquiry or correspondence
  • to investigate and respond to an enquiry or a complaint you have contacted us about

How the law allows us to use your personal information

Under data protection law, UK GDPR Article 6(1), there are lawful bases that allow us to collect, process and share personal information. The lawful basis for processing your information for the outlined purposes are:

Consent – by subscribing to receive information from the Council regarding Sheerness Revival. This will be undertaken through the third-party Granicus and by subscribing to receive information you are also providing consent to Granicus to process your information for this purpose.

Who will we share this information with

Your personal data will only be shared with other organisations, when necessary, if the law allows us, and we always aim to share the minimal data as is necessary.

We share your personal data with the following parties where it is necessary for us to do so:

  • relevant Teams within the Council
  • with third parties where you have requested us to do so

In order to provide this service, we use a third-party provider (GovDelivery by Granicus) to deliver the Sheerness Revival subscription. Granicus is based in the United States and a copy of their privacy notice is available below. Granicus GovDelivery use your email address to deliver messages to you on behalf of the Council and for internal auditing, diagnostic, support and troubleshooting purposes. Your data will only be used for the purpose of contacting you in relation to your subscription.

We may share the content of your query with third parties such as contractors however, personal data will not be shared unless, as advised above, you have requested us to do so.

We may also share personal data with anti-fraud, law enforcement agencies or the Police for prevention or detection of crime/fraud or other legal obligation.

How long we keep your information for

Until the project is closed December 2026 or if you opt out (withdraw consent) receiving correspondence regarding this subscription. Granicus will hold your information in line with their retention periods, further information can be found in their privacy policy below.

In order to provide this subscription service your information will be shared with Granicus, an organisation based outside the UK and the EU. Granicus is based in the United States and we have provided a link to their privacy policy regarding the use of your data.

The council stores your personal data in the UK. We do not transfer your personal data to any other countries including countries in the EU and EEA (European Economic Area).
